Discovering Switzerland with Globus: A Family’s First Guided Tour Experience

Written By: Senior Travel Advisor, Lindsay Groves

Our family recently returned from an unforgettable journey through Switzerland on Globus’ “The Best of Switzerland” guided tour—and as first-timers to group travel, we were blown away.

With a group of 23 (including our 8-year-old daughter, Corinne, who was the youngest traveler on board), we explored Switzerland’s breathtaking landscapes, from Zurich to Zermatt, Lucerne to Lugano. Traveling by a clean, WiFi-equipped motorcoach with a consistent and friendly driver made the logistics effortless, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the scenery.

Each hotel varied in style—from the cozy charm of St. Moritz’s Reine Victoria to the luxurious Alpen Resort & Spa in Zermatt, which was a clear standout. We enjoyed a mix of authentic Swiss meals, like a farm-fresh lunch and a folklore-themed fondue dinner, as well as unique excursions, including a private boat ride on Lake Lugano and a cable car adventure to Mt. Pilatus.

What we loved most? The freedom to explore independently at every stop, combined with the structure and insider access a guided tour offers. Our Tour Director was knowledgeable, kind, and handled every detail so we could truly relax. For us, this felt like a real vacation—no planning stress, just pure enjoyment.

Would we do it again? Absolutely. Switzerland’s beauty is unparalleled, and traveling with Globus gave us a new way to experience it—one we’ll definitely repeat.
