Disney Destiny: The Perfect Ship for First-Time Cruisers
If you’ve been dreaming of finally trying a cruise but aren’t ready to commit to a full week at sea, say hello to Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship: the Disney Destiny. Offering 4- and 5-night sailings out of Port Everglades, this brand-new Triton-class ship is an ideal fit for first-time cruisers, families, and anyone who just needs a magical getaway that won’t take up an entire vacation calendar.
Getting there is effortless. Port Everglades is just 5–10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale Airport, with Miami and West Palm Beach as alternate airport options. Each of these airports offer easier transfers than Port Canaveral. Less travel time and more vacation time!
Once onboard, you’ll find a familiar layout if you’ve sailed Disney Wish or Disney Treasure, but with exciting new touches. The ship’s two signature shows, Hercules and Frozen, bring Broadway-style magic to life at sea, complete with special effects that will have kids (and adults) wide-eyed with wonder. For the best views, aim for rows 10–12 in the main level so little ones can enjoy every moment.
Dining onboard is also a star attraction. The standout restaurant is Pride Lands: Festival of the Lion King, offering adventurous flavors inspired by Africa and a unique themed performance during dinner. Kids will love the “Slimy Yet Satisfying” jello drink—adults will love just about everything on the menu.
With character meet-and-greets, elevated entertainment, and a short-yet-meaningful itinerary, the Disney Destiny makes it easy to dip your toes into cruising—without sacrificing the magic that Disney does best.
