Three Travel Rules Changing in 2025
As your trusted travel professionals, we’re committed to keeping you informed about changes that could impact your cherished vacations. Staying ahead of the latest updates ensures your travel plans remain seamless and stress-free. In 2025, three key travel rules are set to change, and we want you to feel confident and prepared as you plan your next adventure. Here's what you need to know:
On May 7, 2025, new REAL ID requirements will be enforced by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Americans flying with their driver’s license can only do so if they are REAL ID-approved. If you have not already made the switch, now is the time to visit your state's licensing agency.
Starting on January 8, 2025, Americans must apply and get approved for the new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) when traveling to the United Kingdom. The ETA will be required for everyone regardless of how long they are staying in the U.K. or their reason for travel, including simply connecting through a U.K. airport.
In 2025, Europe's new entry/exit system (EES) will launch for all non-Europeans. Although the exact date is still unknown, the EES will be for travelers who do not have a short-stay visa or are not staying more than 90 days in a 180-period, typically all North American travelers.
